The short version: Sylo reads the tools you connect so it can show you your business, and uses your data for nothing else. Nothing on this site tracks you, nothing is sold or shared for advertising, and you can have your data deleted whenever you ask.

Who is responsible

Sylo is run from the United Kingdom by Ronnie Boksh, a sole trader trading as Sylo. For the waitlist and for your account, Sylo is responsible for the personal data described here (the “controller”, in UK GDPR terms). For the data in the tools you connect — your customers, payments and diary — you are the controller and Sylo processes it for you, only to run your dashboard. For anything about your data, contact sylo.support@gmail.com.

What we collect, and why

When you join the waitlist: your email address, and — if you give them — your first name, how your business gets paid, and what you’d want Sylo to fix first. We also record your place in line, whether you’re one of the first 50 (the founding offer), when you agreed to hear from us, and which link brought you to the site (for example an Instagram post). We use this to tell you when Sylo opens, to honour the founding offer, and to understand which posts and which kinds of business are interested.

When you create an account: your name, email and sign-in details; your business name, logo and the choices you make in setup; the people you invite to your team; and your plan and billing status (Stripe holds your card — we never see it).

From the tools you connect: Sylo reads what it needs to show your business — payments and subscriptions from Stripe, contacts and deals from your CRM, events from your calendar, and the channels you pick in Slack. Connections are made through a secure connection service, and Sylo never sees your passwords. It changes something in one of those tools only when you do it from Sylo, and it never contacts your customers.

What you type into Sylo: notes on leads, tasks, delivery work, forms you build and the replies to them, bookings, and your settings.

We do not collect your IP address or device details with your waitlist signup, and we don’t buy or sell data.

Our legal basis

Emailing you about the launch is based on your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form. Knowing which link brought you is based on our legitimate interest in understanding what works, and it’s kept with your signup only. Running your account, and processing the data from the tools you connect, is necessary to provide the service you signed up for (contract).

How long we keep it

Waitlist details are kept until Sylo opens and for up to 12 months after, or until you leave the list — whichever comes first. Then they’re deleted.

Account data, and what Sylo holds from your connected tools, is kept while your account is open. Disconnecting a tool stops Sylo reading it. If you close your account, it is all deleted within 30 days, apart from billing records we must keep by law (usually six years).

Who else handles it

A small number of services run the site for us, and only process data on our instructions:

  • Supabase — stores the waitlist, in London.
  • Vercel — hosts the site. Like any web host it briefly handles technical request data, such as IP addresses, to serve pages and keep the site secure.
  • Clerk — handles sign-in for people with an account.
  • Stripe — takes payment for Sylo plans, and is one of the tools you can connect.
  • Google (Gmail) — sends Sylo’s own emails, such as the founding member email.
  • Nango — holds the secure connections to the tools you connect, so Sylo never handles your passwords.
  • The tools you choose to connect — such as HubSpot, Pipedrive, Google and Slack — under their own terms, which you agreed to when you started using them.

Vercel, Clerk, Stripe, Google and Nango are based in the United States, or process data there. Where data leaves the UK, it’s protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK’s approved international data transfer agreements.

Cookies and storage

This site uses no advertising or analytics cookies, so there’s no cookie banner. It uses only what it needs to work: sign-in cookies for people with an account, a cookie that remembers the preview password while the site is private, and a note held in your browser tab — cleared when you close it — that remembers which link brought you, so a signup is credited to the right post.

Your rights

You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, or object to how we use it — and you can leave the waitlist at any time. Contact sylo.support@gmail.com and we’ll act on it within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change affects how we use data you’ve already given us, we’ll tell you first.
